Unfortunately, my truck didn't come with the 5th wheel wiring harness. I am looking to install a hitch and am wondering if anyone has gone through this wiring exercise and has any hints to make it easy.

Duke,

We had a rather lengthy discussion about the "UY2" fifth wheel wiring option some time ago. Tried in vain to find it? It turns out it's "plug and play". Some folks have bought this harness from the dealer and plugged it into the wiring harness above the spare tire. Makes for a nice installation without hacking into the trailer wiring harness.

I at first thought the UY2 option was a factory spliced connection since the FW stub out wire disappeared just above the frame near the cab/box junction. When I replaced the OEM fuel tank I could finally see that..... darn it....... Maverick was right! It was "plug and play". Don't know what the dealer zings you ($) for it.

IIRC, the oem harness is about $60. Will have to research for the part no. though

Thanks for all the quick relies Gents!

This info will save so much time. Gotta love this forum!
So I am clear on this. Even though my truck was not ordered with the "UY2" option, this harness mentioned above will plug directly into the harness above the spare tire?
