Has anyone upgraded the whole Bose system? I'm thinking about replacing all speakers and the amp with a complete Orion system, just wondering how much luck anyone else has had and what works or not, and has anyone had any luck putting subs in a 03 up Crew Cab if so what size, and where?
Thanks in advance
Ben
Find a high-end car stereo shop in your area and ask them. I used to install, I don't remember the specifics, but the older Bose stuff was a pain to deal with. Basically, you had to replace EVERYTHING, speaker wires included!
If you are going away from the Bose stuff, you can definately add a sub, if you can find a place to put it!

I was looking to add a "powered" bazooka tube to my CC. If I can find a place to put it. Wonder if it and the Onstar will work together.
From my cobwebs of memory, there's an adaptor that you can wire into the Bose system to get low-level outputs for amplifier (or in your case, Bazooka) inputs. I know definately that you can do this on a non-Bose system. Just speaker-wire inputs, RCA jacks as outputs. Kind of an amplifier backwards!

They come in different sizes. 6" , 8", 10". Look at Crutchfield or Circut City. I heard the one (Circut City) near me has the 6" inch on sale and possible free installation next week. I just have to see if it will fit. My buddy has one in his speed boat. Sounds fantastic.

Got a dvc Sony 10" in a Probox in my crew cab. Also subthump makes dual 10 enclosures for crew cabs
My Probox enclosure is behind the seat. Subthump makes under seat boxes as well as behind the seat.
I have 3 6.5" subs in a single box behind the large section of the rearseat in my 2002. Had it built by Doug at www.auto-d.com (http://www.auto-d.com) I also have a Pionerr DEH940 head unit if memory serves.
The front drivers I replaced with Morel home type units. Much better quality for the $$$ with the home stuff, and plenty durable. I got my Morel's and had crossovers (the old fashioned kind) built using Leap design by Madisound Speaker Components. www.madisound.com (http://www.madisound.com)
My 05 has stock Bose, and I may just leave it as I'll likely go to a 2006 when they come out...

Rockford Fosgates in all 4 doors, 10" Rock-Fos sub and 600w amp in a custom box behind the back seat, XM satellite radio wired into an Alpine head. Digital sound quality and no CDs to mess with... :D
Skinny Blinky had some pics of his stereo install a while back. I have pics of mine for those interested. I'll zip and e-mail. Nothing special but it's a far cry better than the OEM.
4 S8L7 Solo-Baric's. 2 Rockford Power Punch BD-1000's. All MB Quart high's. Nice Excelon Amp for those. And, an Alpine Phantom face to ignite it all! :D
All in a regular cab!
