View Full Version : Overhead console
Does anyone know the part # for the long overhead console in a HD (and will it mount easily)?. Mine has the 40/20/40 seat and therefore only the baby overhead. I would like the big one.
They are available on ebay much cheaper than from the dealer. Did some research and there is a site that has the install instructions. Misplaced the link. I paid $90 for mine but haven't installed it. After I rec'vd it, the stubby cubby started to appeal to me. Oh, yeah, I suppose I will install it ~ ~ someday.
Do a search on ebay for console. G'luck. smile.gif

Any luck finding that link? I just purchased one myself -- it doesn't look too hard to install but a little bit of help wouldn't be a bad thing .....

SK,
I found this link:
http://www.lwm.cc/oh/index.htm
I have reconsidered doing it though.
I don't like the line "Roof skins and new headliners aren't that expensive!" in his instruction. :D
Thanks for the link. In reviewing it, I recalled why I've been reluctant to install it. Not much is gained. A sunglass holder and tissue holder? I would be losing the cubby space/box that I now have. There is a blocking plate where I've become accustomed to having storage (for northstar?). Is there something I'm overlooking here re the overhead consoles?
If I do go ahead, altho looks simple, I'd probe the cut destination area first just to make sure. ;)
I replaced the short overhead console with the long overhead console... see the pictures & info at the link below. Got the take-off console from LWM Enterprises for $90... Definitely better than the $260 from the dealer!

Do you have any ideas for practical use of the forward blocked compartment?

Good place to mount Boost/EGT gauges. :D
Sigh ~ already have 'em on the pillar. Looked at the compartment for storage but not nearly as large/practical as the stubby console ~ I'm leaning toward keeping the stubby. If anyone is interested in a neutral/tan o/h console ~ let me know.
