Question on Bully Tailgate Lock Install

I got one of these at Pep Boys and installed it tonite. But I have one problem. The lock arm that swings up when you turn the key to lock the tailgate does not make very good contact with the tailgate release arms. I was able to overpower it and open the tailgate. I can't find any way to adjust it and the directions are no help. I do have one extra part though. It's the piece of black plastic that's about 1 1/2 long by 1/2 wide with a round hole in one end and an elongated slot near the other end. The instructions don't mention it and I can't see where it might fit. Maybe this piece is the key ! Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I am having the same problem i took mine off, piece of junk so far. :mad:

I've run into the same problem on a few trucks when installing the tailgate locks. You have to bend the arm a little. Take it off and put it in a vise. It'll work fine. The tolerances on the tailgates are pretty wide and sometimes they don't match up with the lock arm. Easy mod and it'll work fine.
