Is anyone running goodyear MT/R 285/75-r16's under a none lifted 2500hd. I am working a deal with the base PX for a set of them; and wonder how they fit, how the wear, and how ya like 'em?

Really need a good mud tire that will last a while, as far as mud's go...

Those are the same tires I am running on my truck. I raised the torsion bar 5 turns to make them fit. I have approx. 12k on them and have a little more than 1/4 inch of tread left. Even before I got Juiced the tread wear was excessive as far as I was concerned. I rotate and balance regularly and keep a close eye on pressures. The rears wear more quickly. I think reason may be that they are D rated instead of E. I have two friends with 3/4 ton F**ds and theirs are wearing good. One friend with 3/4 D***e are wearing same as mine..I also have friends who run them offroad and they are an excellent offroad tire. I guess the compound may be a little soft for street use although they do better than the SSR's I was running on my Jeep. The best tires I have used for a combo; offroad and street have been the BFG MUD Terrains. I got 40k out of my first set. Downside to them now is French owned, however still made in the U.S. of A. I run 55 psi in front and 60 in rear. I will probably go with Nitto's in the LT 305-70-16 flavor next time as they are E-rated. The 285's and the 305's are the same diameter but the 305's are wider. Hope this info helps.David

I was going to get some as well, but many dealers said it is a borderline rock climbing tire, hence the soft compound. If you get 40K out of them, then they will be showing steel from what I was told. If you are not worried about tread life of that range, then pony up! They are agressive.

I went with some ProComps myself, but in the 265 series.

Im running the stock 245-75 MT-R tires on my 2k1 gasser. Its a plow truck so some road noise on daily driving is well worth not shoveling my arse out of a snow bank in 10 degree weather. I have talked to people who have gotten over 30K off a set I think its possible. They are an awsome tire, one of the best if you need traction. It was those or the ATS Goodyear tire.....after the winter we had...Im glad we got them. They are pricey, but if not getting stuck is important to you, then I wouldnt recommend another tire besides these. I dont know what load range that size is but the 245(E) hold 2 yards of sand quite well. Goodyears may not last the longest but when it comes down to money and overall performance all I can give the tire is praise Bill
