View Full Version : Can I change voltage on Prodigy while driving?
I am fairly new to towing my fifth wheel. I need to know if I can adjust the setting on my Prodigy brake controller while driving. I was told to set it on a lower number on wet roads. Do I need to stop or is there someway to safely change the setting while underway?

You can adjust all settings on the fly if you like. I do it all the time. I usually leave the dial on the left alone where I have it set. When I am loaded heavy I set it to boost #3. After I unload and head for the first stop sign I then remember to set to boost #1 after I just flat spotted the tires again. The boost button really works.
Hey Maverick,
In your experience, how aggressive is the inertia drive sensor in these?
I had a 17k stack of trailers behind me, and had to use boost 3 to stop, BUT at low speeds, the brakes hammered in hard and got super aggressive.
Now I know the trailer brakes (new trailer) were due for adjustment after a couple hundred mile, but anything less than boost 3 and it wouldn't stop for crap, like the inertia drive was lazy or something...
May well have been the trailer brake adjustment as I tried with a lighter trailer, and was able to nose the truck down more which made them more aggressive. Ive also got mine mounted very horizontal in the CC cubby hole where Mdrag has his gauge.

Mine is pretty much the same way. Need #3 to stop heavy and #1 sometimes seems grabby once in awhile at low speed. When heavy I think to myself, where the heck are the trailer brakes, when come down the mountain. It seems to change voltage if the angle of the truck changes while braking with one brake pedal movement. If that makes sense. If the front of the truck goes up or down the controller will either grab harder or ease up a bit. I guess this is where a Jordon would be better.
