Although I am a GM Diesel guy, I'm posting this for my son because I can't convince him to get rid of his Ford.

He has a 95 extended cab Powerstroke 4x4 that has recently(at 115,000) started to quit running at times when stopping and sometimes while idling. Usually it starts right back up but sometimes you have to wait several minutes before it will start. Any ideas???

sounds like a Cam positioning Sensor (CPS)
he has enough miles for it to be going out.
.
its cheaper from the international dealer from ford.
and there is no reason to convince him to get rid of it, a '95 powerstroke is one of the best years for ANY diesel.

Thanks for the info. It was the cam sensor and it was cheaper at the International dealer. They were also very friendly and answered all questions I had which is not the treatment I get at the Ford dealer.
