I am trying to source some infomation about the
Oldsmobile 5.7 Diesel V8.
I own a Nissan Patrol 4x4 that had a retro fitted
5.7 Litre. The engine I'am told were in the
Oldsmobile- 'Electra'or similar.
I am trying to purchase a Workshop manual for this engine, along with a source, who can advise me about the good or bad sides of this motor.
So far I have heard that these motor are notorious at blowing head gaskets. They are suppose to be a close repleca of the 350ci Chev
gas motor, only heavier block, pistons, rods and
heads to cope with the 22.1 compression, to run diesel. Can any one enlighten me with some details.
Thank you in anticipation of any details.
Rod.

I owned a 1979 GMC Serria Classic half ton with the 5.7 diesel for 10 years and I bought the GM manual for it. I still have it if you are interested. :D :D :D
