the truck stalls without warning, and is getting progressivly worse. it's like someone just pulls the plug and it dies. most of the time it will start right back up, sometimes it doesnt. if you are at speed it will die and restart on its own. i looked at electrical connections and everything looked good. truck has 131k, and injector pump was replaced under warrantee. 2 years ago or so,any suggestions?

sounds like you need another pump! I have also seen PCMs do this as well just not as common.

And my guesse would be PCM. Get a new one with extention cable (or make your own) and a cooler and mount remote either in front of left battery or behind front bumper.

What codes are you getting??? Check these first, could save lots of $$$$$$$$$!!!!

how would i go about troubleshooting either the pump or the ECU? it would be awfully expensive to just throw on one or the other and end up being wrong

Hey Biglee had the same problem on my 98 Chevy 6.5 TD. The injector pump was covered under warranty up to I believe it was 200K Kilometers. GM required that they test the lift pump first and it failed (naturally otherwise how would they make any money on this) $500-600 to replace the lift pump but when it still failed they were forced to replace the injector pump. Not an easy job. And very very expensive if not done under warranty. Good luck.

This question would be served better if asked in the 6.5 forum.

What you describe sounds like a failing FSD and can probably be fixed for between $250 and $500.
