PEELING PAINT

My `95 GMC 6.5 SIERRA X-CAB has major dandruff. (paint flaking off hood and front quarter panels) Exposing that nice gray underneath.
What is the problem with the paint ?
How to prevent it when I get new paint ?

There is nothing wrong with the paint. It is how the company prepared the metal before they painted it. I don't know how to prevent it from doing it agian.

Gm had problems with cross coat adhesion years back and the sun exposed areas flaked off first..

If the shop sands it and does the basic repaint it should be fine...
