Figures. GM is an American company (was?) and
we get V6 powered FRONT wheel drive cars. But
the MIDDLE EASTERNers get THIS!!!!:

That Caprice SS is a Holden Commodore from GM's Australia unit. Holden's lineup would make any rear-drive loving North American jealous. They have awesome product, including a modern-day version of the El Camino. Fortunately, we'll be getting one of their cars, the 2-door Monaro, as the 2004 Pontiac GTO, with LS1 V-8 power. smile.gif

I heard about the GTO being built on the Holden
chassis. Finally some of the Holden line is
coming to the US! Wonder how long it will take
for the Chevy Impala/Caprice to be available in
the US market based on the Holden Monaro. That would make a truely viable NASCAR package versus the current V6 Front WD Impala.

We've had a Holden based car here since '97. The Cadillac Catera. (actually the Holden is based on an Opel platform)

As a side note, the Caprice SS (a left hand drive version) was in Florida in March of '99. Several Florida police agencies were evaluating it for use as a police vehicle. A friend of mine in the Marion County Sheriffs dept. said the car was awsome. They were going to be about $3000 more than the Crown Vics if GM decide to bring them here. The various agencies were worried about parts availability as well.
