Dave I wonder whitch one of the three guys setting the main bearing is The Clevite Kid, this monster was e mailed to me as a joke a while back and my friend wanted me to go with him to overhaul this big engine, had me all pumped up as how much money we were going to make and all the fringes while we were in Japan, then he showed me this I owe him one, I would love to see it run.

The whitemetal bearings are a tin-based babbitt, fairly soft and forgiving, to protect that million-dollar crankshaft.

Not that it matters that much, but the writing on the wall in one of the pictures is Hongul (sp?) (Korean). I suspect these pictures are from Korea not Japan. I know the world's largest steel mill/foundry is in Pohang and they have built this sort of thing (along with many ships).
