View Full Version : How about DP vendor ratings?

I sell on EBay and work hard to maintain my perfect seller record because my prospective next customer(s) can see my ranking by my past customers.

I am currently dealing with a DP advertiser who e-mailed me that my order would ship on 1/16 or 1/17. I am seeking confirmation that my items are on the way only, I am asking nothing else of this vendor. I am not getting a straight answer.

If there was a vendor ranking by DP members it is entirely possible that I may not have ordered from this vendor. Conversely, he could have a perfect rating, I'd like to know.

I know the ad revenue is important to DP but it shouldn't be so important that vendors are shielded at member's expense.

Since vendors are permitted to hype, promote, project, and do additional advertising free by posting in these forums, I think it is reasonable for paying members to be able to rate them somehow.

This isn't the best forum to do it, but sure, you can solicit comments from others regarding DP vendors. I might suggest one of the Member forums above might be a more appropriate venue, but that are still viewable by the public.

Suggest which member forum you want, and we'll move it there.

Otherwise, everyone should know that being a DP vendor/advertiser should add confidence in your ability to do business with them. Each of them know that to be offered the privilege of advertising here, their first priority is a satisfied customer.

There is only a small number of instances in the past seven years where members/customers have contacted us because of their dealings with a DP advertiser. In all cases, each ended satisfactorily. That's a requirement. This also means that if a vendor does not advertise here, we may not be able to help.

MP,

I agree, a place in the members forums would be nice to see. No only for advertisers but for any vendor we would like to make other readers/members aware or beware of.

This would be a good tool if not abused.

Sorry- I don't understand this.

Could we somehow name them, rank them say 1-5, and have room for short comments?

Or are you talking open forum?

Sorry- don't understand.

How will people know to go here to see vendor ratings?

The point I am making is that we need some type of forum that is specific, not "general".

We speak in general terms all the time about vendors and products.

I am suggesting a way to track the comments and rankings.

Trace, Thank you for volunteering to collect the data from this forum thread, and then present your findings fairly and unbiased.

Since we do not have a forum called "Rate DP Advertisers", the General Diesel forum will have to do.

MP

PS. This is a formal request to all members to help supply Trace with data. Talk about your good experiences, bad experiences, and whether you were satisfied in the end, with any purchase made from any TDP advertiser.

From MP- << All discussion about vendors must occur in public, in the General Diesel forum. Sending information via email presents an opportunity for others to question the data.
MP >>

Please follow the rules, send info via the forum, I cannot use info provided in private communication.

Let 'em rip guys and gals !!!

Kennedy gets a 10 from me. Great service, great products.
Greg from Lubespecialist gets the same.
DIS gets an 8. I find the time from ordering to delivery to be a little long for no apparant reason. Waited almost 2 weeks to get just some Fuel Treatment.

I may not be as familiar with some of these vendors as some of you are so please give the whole name.

FirstDiesel- who's DIS?

Sorry

First you didn't spec a scale so I decided 1-10 seemed logical.

You can give John Kennedy a 10 for me to. He ships things right away with fair prices and his knowledge and product support are second to none. I haven't really dealt with any others, yet.

I don't think we should include a list of every vendor anyone ever used, it could get awful long. On the other hand, I don't want to keep DP members from being as well informed as possible. MP- what is your view on this?

BD gets a 7/10 rating from me. I havean EZ Amp 90 HP box (Juice) Awsome unit. I have a BD X-box installed, also an awsome unit. I also have an exaust brake installed, it workes well but it rattles like crazy. I have had it back to the installer 3 times and they can't seem to figure it out.

John Kennedy - 10/10. Everything was here when he said, had a problem with exhaust pipe length from his sub contractor (he himself did not ship them), backed up everything 100%, then went another 10%. Great to talk with and will explain any questions you have.

Haven't delt with anyone else here yet.

Of listed advertisers have only dealt with Northern Automotive. I have to give them a solid 10- too many orders to count. Fast service, easy to talk to, and I am confidant they will deal with any problems in a fair manner.

My rating for the Diesel Depot (Avantt's) is 10/10.

When they built me a oil-cooled low compression engine, both Benny and Jamie were wary against these blocks, but when it cracked within 6K, they let me drive it there, pulled it and built me new non-oiler block. They honored their warranty, inspite of their caution. It is now good.

I have not used any of the other vendors listed. I did call one of them, and was just about ready to buy an expensive part, and he provided a disparaging remark (smart-crack) about the south, when he found I was located in North Carolina, so I politely told him I'd think about this before I bought. Cost him that business and much more from me. I won't rate him, because this was between himself and me, and was a personal moment. I cannot remember ever cracking on people and businesses from cooler states, so the remark was out of line, and so is his business. Again, I won't rate him, but I don't put up with that kind of behavior, no matter if I did need a part that only a few vendors could provide.
