8.2l governor swap?

I've been searching high and low to find out if it's possible to swap the electronic governor on a '86 chevy c60 (with an 8.2L detroit diesel) with a mechanical governor. Some tell us it can be done while others tell us it can't.

Do any of you have a line on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

All of the 8.2L diesels that the state of Wyo has had, have had mechanical governors. Got the first one somewhere around the early 80,s. and the last around 90 or so. They have not been to bad at all for the abuse they have seen. They were replaced with the 3116 CAT. The best CAT runner we had went down the other day with a bad crank at about 200,000 miles.
