How to not buy a broken PoSD 6.0L

A friend is planning to buy a 2003 Furd PoSD so she can haul her horse trailer back from Tulsa to Boise. The 1/2 ton 5.3L Chevy barely made it here. She is looking at an F350 DRW with the 6.0. Is there an easy way to figure out if it is already a Furd lemon? I of course would never buy it as I love my Duramax but figure I can at least steer her way from a lemon.

No matter the brand, I recommend potential buyers insist on a warranty service history printout from the dealer before signing the papers.

Of course, the above would only apply when buying from a dealer. If buying from a private party, you'll have to sweet talk the local dealer's service manager.
