I will post more pictures as the project progresses.

Nice pictures of the Isuzu turbokid. That thing will fly when it's in the suburban. It should last for many years. The 6.2 obviously took a beating. That's a huge crack in the block.WOW!The yellow or orange paint on it would really fool alot of folks into thinking it's a CAT engine.Good luck with the isuzu swap.

The engine is rated at about 135HP @ 2800 RPM. It is rated at 274ft-lb torque @2000 RPM. This is in the NA version. We are planning on putting a turbo on before we install it in my truck. This will most likely raise my horsepower over 200, as it has room to have the fuel turned up and an intercooler added, as it already has 17.5:1 pistons stock. As for a tranny, since the engine already has a #3 bell, I have a deal in the works with NH2112 to buy an AT545 allison four speed automatic. This should handle everything I throw at it.
Any questions? http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/smile.gif

hey i put a 6BD1 isuzu diesel in a 1980 3/4 ton chevy 4x4. You will enjoy this motor, this engine has a turbo on it and it will twist the drive shaft off. Only prob is an A/C compressor mounting bracket, so if u have any ideas i would like to hear them.

Darrell Lister- after your post in my guestbook, i wanted to get a hold of you, but you didn't leave an e-mail address. http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/smile.gif I just recently posted some more pictures that show the ac bracket on my engine. If you want some better pictures or something, you can e-mail me at t1880jrd@msn.com. In fact, I'll sell you my compressor and mounting brackets if you're interested, we are thinking of putting a different compressor on. BTW, what year was your engine manufactured? The tag on my valve cover says 6/80. What did you do as far as motor mounts? Also, what radiator did you use? Did you have to cut out the crossmember that goes between the framerails? Did you raise the cab or the springs, or both? ALso, what rear end ratio do you have, and how fast can you comfortably go? What kind of turbo do you have and how much boost do you get out of it? Sorry for so many questions.
Thanks,

hey Turbokid, it was manufactured in 1979. the motor with turbo puts out about 180+ horsepower, the ratio in the previous truck was 4.10, but i believe the current truck is 3.73, havent completed the new truck swap, so i don't know what the top speed is yet, but the old truck it was about 65-70. for the motor mounts they came with the motor and we had a local welding shop fabricate the brackets. I removed the stock mounts and the crossmember too then the crossmember that the anti sway bar is mounted to i had to trim the top part out for the crankshaft pullys to clear. The truck had to have a 4 in lift installed to support and make the oilpan clear. The oil filter had to be shortened to clear the front driveshaft. the radaitor was the stock 1 that came with the old truck but the necks had to be enlarged to fit with the necks on the motor. too thick of a radaitor and the fan will hit, so it has to be a 3 row or less thick. I don't have pictures but can get pics. the reason for changing trucks was the main bearing spun and at the time parts were unavailble but later i found a guy to get parts from so i decided to reinstall it in a 3/4 ton the original truck was a 1 ton dually. my email is tatertot@nts-online.net so if u need any help i have been there done that.
