I don't know if you guys have any experience with Auto Parts For Less (http://www.auto-parts-for-less.com), but my experience with them has been terrible.

I ordered up a 130A GM alternator from them on January 20 to do the dual-alternator install. The price was $174 without a core which was pretty decent.

But here we are more than 2 months later and when I go to their website to check my order, it still says "Processing".

I have called them 5 times and never get to talk to a person but have to leave a message, and nobody has ever called me back.

Parts Zone Online, on the other hand, is a class act. I ordered all the other parts I needed for the install from them and it showed up in a couple of days. To bad they don't offer a good deal on the 130A altenator.

Anyone know of a good place to pick up the 130A alternator for ~$175 so that I can just go ahead and cancel my order with Auto Parts For Less?

Thanks!

You might try a company in Texas called Alterstart. http://www.4alterstart.com or 1-800-607-0016. The 105A stock alternator is an AD230 and the 130A is an AD244.

Also, an eBay seller who goes by the handle Truckandrvsupply usually has new, take-off AD244 alternators for around $89.00. I bought one from them about a year ago. It was brand new.

I just did a quick search, and it doesn't appear that they have any listed. But, you might contact them to see if they have any in stock.

These guys are very responsive and offer free shipping, which makes their rebuilt prices very competitive if you can't pick up in person:

THey have gear reduction starters for good prices too.

Last yr, purchased a 130A DelPhi off ebay from an outfit out of elkhart(?) IN for $69 plus shipping. Looked new and they were pleasant to work with on the phone also. I notice that of late, ebay sellers are becoming less communicative after a sell ~ but nothing like 2months ~ yet.

Oyazi- That is truckandrvsupply. Their price did jump $20 on their alternators. (must've been selling too fast!)

Looks like the Ebay dude (truckandrvsupply) DOES have one available. He doesn't list it as a AD244, but rather gives the Part No 15750871M.

Here is the link:

It this the one I want?

Thanks Guys!

c5dura,

That one will work. I bought one from them about a month ago and it's charging away on my dmax now as the auxiliary alternator. I was unable to find that exact part number listed, but the seller claimed it would fit other vehicles that are listed as sharing alternators with the Dmax. No problems and its addition to the truck's charging system is very noticable on a cold start. Truckandrvsupply responded promptly to emails and shipped very quickly.

Excellent. Order placed and confirmed. Turns out I had a balance in my Paypal account that covered the cost of the alternator, including shipping (I don't use Paypal very often). So in a way it was free. :D

I wonder what is different about this alternator compared to a 'real' AD244? As long as it will bolt right up using the other GM parts I got, I guess it doesn't matter...

Heck! How'd I miss that??
I've been thinking about picking up another one to replace my anemic 105a stocker.

c5dura-
There's nothing different. It IS a Delphi AD244 alternator. This company (from what I've been told) does alot of chassis/cab conversions for aid and utility vehicles, and the first thing they do is replace the factory alternator with a higher output unit.
