It has auto, with standard HP rating. I'll keep y'all posted on how she runs. I enjoyed the test drive ;) My broh has a 03 Duramax GMC on order. We will heads up run when he gets his in November. To be continued........

pilot2bombardier:

My son is thinking of buying the dodge for his business due to a better price than the GM trucks. What was the price range you paid.

Sorry to bust yer bubble but the DMax/Allison is
going to run circles around your ETC powered Ram.
They are no faster/quicker than the earlier ones.
I've driven 3 different ETC (standard Cummins) and a couple of HO/6 speeds (yes the 305/555) and
unless you BOMB with an Edge EZ or more than that
the DMax stock will outdrag you!

A true test would be one pulling a load up a
grade, but even the new HO will have a tough time
competing against the DMax/Allison.

I'm not Dodge bashing either. I happen to own a
2001 2500 4x4 Ram quadcab Cummins with 5 speed.
I have an Edge products fueling module and that
is barely enough to outrun a stock D/A.

By the way, congratulations buying the new Ram!
If you are not worried about warranty issues,
check out the Edge EZ at
http://www.edgeproductsinc.com/products.html

I am not sure if they have one for the 2003
common rail ISB but they will soon! You will be
much happier with the truck! If you do get a
fueling module/chip, make sure you install at
least an EGT (pyrometer) because adding more fuel
which is what these boxes do, can raise EGTs high
enough to do engine damage.

Any pics of the truck yet? smile.gif

Chris: Firstly I like both GM & Dodge trucks. I purchased this truck based on my knowledge of I6 diesels (I have I-6 Cat diesels in my Heavy Haulers for my trucking Co.) This truck is smooth, quiet, ride is great, performance is invigorating, fit & finish is supurb. I truly believe that the performance of all diesels will increase in the near future. I will probably mod my new 3500 a bit, but for now it will remain a baby.My broh is picking up his duramax this week btw. :D ;)

JQ the prices vary as you know. there is no 0% financing on Dodge CD trucks, which make the GM trucks more attractive, I believe they have 2,000 off or 0% financing. The dealer I purchased mine at gave me a nice figure on my trade, and knocked 2,500 off the sticker, also installed a under bed liner at no extra cost. I am content with my purchase. Put is simple my Ram has more equiptment than my brohs Duramax yet final cost is very similar even with him getting 2k off.

BTW Chris my bubble is still intact tongue.gif If I want to Drag I'll run my all steel sbc 65 SS Chevelle 10.80s @ 127 on motor & dots, closed exhaust, or my 69 GTX 440 6pack 4 speed. :D

WOW, all that 1965 American steel doing 10s' in
the 1/4 mile! That would be a rush! I love the
looks of a 1966 Impala SS. Big block of course.
My first car was a 1970 1/2 Camaro Z28 4 speed.
It was a basketcase but ran when I bought it. Had
if for over 12 years and by the time I sold it
back in '94, it was a really nice car. My main
objective was to restore it to as close to stock
as possible but "restify" it with modern touches
like polyurethane sway bar busings.
I rebuilt the engine, trans, rear end, suspension
etc all myself over time.
Here's my brother's 70 Olds 442 W30 restoration
project that he is just finishing up. He's had
the car for (I think) 15 years.

Pilot, have you had a chance to compare your CTD to your brother's D/A yet? Tell us what is good/bad about your Dodge as compared to your bro's...

WK I will keep y'all posted about my comparison as soon as I can meet up with him. We are both self employed, and have rough schedules. I'll be the first to tell you. :D
