I just got my Moter Trend truck trends mag with the artical on the Ford Tonka Concept truck, in the article it mentions the power plant as being a 6.0 litre 350 HP 600 FP torque diesel with ALUMINUM HEADS? Is this a version of the new G2 Powerstroke?

From what I've read in other articles it will have cast iron heads.

NO aluminum heads on this engine. The only thing that is aluminum on the head is the top half that holds the rocker arms and fuel rail.

the G2 will only be around for 4-7 years, the noxt IH diesel will be the camless design, it will pretty much be guaranteed to have aluminum heads, or some other exotic, shrinking alloy...

The G2 sounds interesting. The race is on!! The only problem with the G2 is it comes in a F*&d. Now that GM has a very capable diesel(best in market right now - IMHO), I'll stick with the best looking truck on the market - bar none. The camless technology sure does open up some interesting possibilities. But if you didn't want to be a "GM test case" as I hear from a lot of F*%d and D%#^*e guys are you going to want to be a test case for the new camless design!!

Negative on the Aluminum heads. Rockers and fuel rail are the only aluminum in the heads.
The numbers posted are correct but they are still claiming to be concept numbers- actual production will/may vary.

Whats with the "powdered metal" business? The Ford guy didn't even like the sound of that.......it sounds like something you would say if you were describing a technical problem with the internal parts malfunctioning....."Well sir, we had to open her up today and all we found was powdered metal in there....have you been using oil??"

But what do I know, I drive a 6.5....... http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I believe it was the same magazine that said the Duramax had dual overhead cams before it was released.

They do make mistakes.

The rockers are steel and the fuel rail is cast iron. But the frame that holds all this is aluminum and it bolts to the top of the head.
