How Hot

Have just installed an EGT Gauge with the sender just below the drivers side manifold on the cross over pipe.
Driving around with just the truck, in about 68 degree weather the tempeture hovered at around 500 and after about 30 minutes got up to 700 while taking off up a slight hill.
Does this sound ok or a little low?

Same low-cow on EGT on my truck.
65 mph shows 550 deg. 75mph 600. No tow,though the truck carries lots of weight full time.
1100* 0 to 60 WOT ;)
