Ordered tires today...

From 1010tires.com. Got the ever popular BFG ATKO 265/75/16D's. I will let everyone knows how "smooth" or not it goes. Best price I found was $155 each plus tax, and they had them for $113.99, no tax. Shipping will run ~$90 total. So that comes out to about $135 / tire to me. Guess I saved $80, so not bad. Already called around town, and almost everybody will put them on for me.

I was going to order some BFG Mud Terrain KM's from them. They had them for $113 in 255/85/16. In the meantime my uncle got me a set of Michelin LTX M/S (he works for Michelin) in 235/85/16 (32" tall). The price on these things was awesome smile.gif . I'm not really sure I will like the size, but I will probably put them on my stock wheels. Then again I might put the mud tires on my stock wheels and have the Michelins on the Eagle alloys. I'll put it this way. I got all four tires for less than the price of two. Can't beat that!

I was afraid of the bulging problems some are having. I need these suckas to last me a while!

I DO wish I had the 285's though.

I did get an email from them today, confirming shipping of the tires, and it had the invoice in PDF format in the email. Also had tracking numbers for each tire. Cool!

I think your right as far as the "bulging " A guy I work with has them on a stock f 250 lt duty wheel and the out side edjes dont get much contact with the ground! drives ok? I think you made the right choice..02

What has been your opinions of the Wranglers you've had? How many miles, feel vs stock?
Will you be putting the new 265's on the same stock rims (assuming stock is what you have). I keep reading that even the 265-75's are made for a slightly wider rim, i.e 7 or 8".
Any thoughts or comments for us still running original rubber and wanting to upgrade in near future? I do like the 285-75's look, and saw one on a nearly identical truck. The guy just jacked the torsion bars a little, tied back the loose areas of fenderwell, etc. and off they went. I get the impression the downside is possible rougher ride with too much torsion bar adjustment, so perhaps the 265-75 is the best alternative to stock. :confused:

Got em in today, so it took 1 week to get from BC to Texas. Not bad. Had them balanced and installed at the local (gulp) Wal Mart. did it for $44 including tax. I gave SPECIFIC instructions to install white letters on the inside, and to put 55psi on the front, 50 psi on the rear.

And...elieve it or not...they did it to a T. So my buying experience was GREAT with 1010tires.com I will call them next time as well.

Tim, I do not believe you get a firmer suspension when you tweak the bars. I didn't feel it when I put on my 285's and someone here explained it technically I believe. The different tire might ride different though. I put my tires on 8x16 wheels and there is not much of a difference in driving conditions. The stock rubber was certainly quieter and maybe a little smoother at speed on the highway but that is it.
