This may be a dumb question, but what transfer case lube do we use in our trucks?

The owners manual states Dexron ATF for manual, and Auto-trak for automatic.

Well, I don't have auto-trak, and my transfer case is push button. Do they consider push button manual? When I think of manual, I think of the floor shifter. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Kyle

Good question. I too seen that and wondered about what they really wanted to say. Will be watching for an authoritive ans to your question also. ~ odoh

Dextron 3 is correct or synthetic(your choice),there is no fully automatic trans. case in HD,s that only applys to 1500 series. The HD,s are simple push button to engage.

The manual is confusing on this one.... Our trucks use a MANUAL transfer case. Regardless if it's a pushbutton engage or a lever engage, it is still considered a manual transfercase.

The only approved fluids for the 2500 HD's and the 3500's is Dexron III. You can use any fluid you want to use, be it synthetic, Dino, or whatever, as long as meets the Dexron III specifications.

The Auto Trac II fluid is only to be used in trucks with the Auto Trac transfercase. The only GM truck that use this T-case are: 1500's (Pickups, Tahoe's, Suburbans, Yukons, and the Avalanche), 2500 LD's (8600 GVWR), 2500 Suburbans, and the 2500 Avalanches.

Hope this clears this up...
