Lone Eagle wrote about his steering rattle:
They put on a new box that solved my problem.
I think they have a QA problem with this one. The
new boxes are suppose to be OK. Mine is.

Lone Eagle,
Could you look at your invoice copy and tell me the part
number of the box?
Thanks

Lone Eagle must be on vacation... so to
the top again.

Has anyone else had their steering box
replaced to solve the steering rattle problem?

I have been on vacation! ;) I didn't get a copy of the invoice. The service tech told me all the new boxes have the newer bearing installed. Mine is still quiet. Later! Lone Eagle

Lone Eagle...... thanks.

This will be the third time in for the rattle and I'm think
the prudent option is to replace the box.

Hope the dealer see's it that way too.

Could someone please describe what the steering rattle sounds and or feels like. I have a noise that could be this that happens when I hit a pot hole or the like. Sure would like to know what this is.
Thanks in advance for the help.

56, I found that front end guys are putting in boxes for your rattle, thats why I have never seen bearing replaced! Apperently its quite common, we have two boxes in stock

It is hard to believe how such a little problem could be so hard for GM to correct. Evidently the newer generation is having a hard time reading a vernier caliper. The bearing in both replacement kits was so far off you could easily see it. Building the right bearing would have been a lot cheaper than replacing the box. Later! Lone Eagle ;)
