Must be a mix up in their ads. The 01 and 02 2500HD and 3500 have a 9200 GVWR.

All 2001-2002 Duramax and 8.1L equipped 2500 HD's are rated @ 9200 pounds GVWR.

The 2500 LD is rated at 8600 GVWR. The LD is only available with the 6.0L gasser, and is lacking the powerdome hood of the 2500 HD, and some of the other HD parts. The 1500 HD is also rated at 8600 GVWR.

My 2002 Dually's GVW is 11400.

What I find interesting is the cargo
weight rating for my truck is only
3754 lbs.

All 2500HD GVWR = 9200
All 3500 GVWR = 11400
All 2500 GVWR = 8600
All 1500HD GVWR = 8600
1500 GVWR = I don't care, but less than 8600.

The point is, it really isn't very complicated.

The other point is, GM doesn't call any of them "LD", we do that and probably confuse some people. I think the 3500 owners would take offense if we called them 3500LD!
