I see an option of running 2 alternators. What is the benefit of 2 alternators?

1) More power.
2) Enhanced belt squeal on engine shut down.
3) Wimpy OEM 100A alt
4) More power.
5) It's neat.

Also,

If you loose your boat anchor, you can remove your spare alternator and use it as a substitute. your truck will run on the other one.

However, my favorite features are, as mdrag said:

1) More Power.
2) Looks Neat under the hood.
3) I know my serpentine belt is in place every time i shut the engine down.

I wonder, how would we ever know if one of our 2 alternators died?

Why not just run two seperate gauges?

Though both alternators would probably go to same charging point, you could insert a diode in line with each and tap the line pre-diode for a guage.

Really two alt's are not necessary unless you run a lot of power as I do when I go to Central America and us a large inverter to run power equiptment. Just my 2c's tongue.gif
