It has been mentioned several times about the front frame bumper siting on the lower A arm. Has it been decided if this is as it should be? I looked at a new one and it was also touching the lower arm. It seems to me that this would transmit any bump to the frame and to the ride itself. Will the dealer adjust it out? Thanks

Apparently this is not as it should be. When I measured mine against factory specs, I found it to be about 1/2" too low. When I cranked it up to factory specs the bumpers were about 1/4" to 1/2"
off the lower frame. It improved the ride too on slightly rough roads. Should be covered under warranty, however I did my own, only took 30 minutes.

I remember reading a discussion about this same
thing a few months ago in this forum.

The explanation was that the taper of the soft
snubber is designed so the first few inches of
contact travel are soft and the further it is
compressed the stiffer it gets.

I raised the front end of my Yukon XL 2500 a few
turns and it looks much better now, sits almost
level, more like the 4WD that it is. When I bought it
the back was noticably higher which gave it the
appearance of a 2WD.

Maybe there is a logical reason like legal bumper
height restrictions.

I finally got around to cranking my torsion
bars up too. Mine was sitting so low on the
bumpers I doubt the bars were doing anything.
I raised it far enough to just see daylight
between the bumper and frame. What is strange
is that the right side only took 3 turns while
the left side took nearly 51/2-6 turns and is
still 1/4" lower than the right side. What's
up with that? Do I have a weak torsion bar?
I did get an alignment done and found it was
off on the tow and left camber. I'm glad I did
it. Truck looks and rides much better now. You can
really feel a differnece on rough rocky roads.
Almost too stiff.

No, your torsion bars are okay, it's the manufacturer that's weak. smile.gif

You have what's commonly called the "Silverado Slope". I had it pretty bad too; I cranked the DS 6.5 turns and the PS only 1.5 turns to level it side to side and front to back. Seems someone at the factory is sleeping a little too much on the assembly line...

I stopped by the dealer yesterday and asked about the bumper sitting on the a-arm. The service writer just blew it off like 9 out of 10 of them do that and the others may have a fraction of an inch space and a waste of time to try adjusting it. I told him it seems to me that the bumps would be transmitted to the frame and on to the cab, etc. He stated it should not affect the ride. Yeah, right!
