Get this,

I need to go pickup a 72 chevy that is a project truck for my son. I call UHAUL to inquire about a auto transport trailer. They tell me that the trailer will hold the 72 chevy just fine, BUT, they will not rent me a trailer, because according to their specs, my truck will not handle it.

They tell me that with weight of trailer and old truck I would be pulling close to 5000 lbs, and by rule the truck doing the pulling has to weigh more than what is being towed, and my truck (according to them) only weighs 4600 lbs.

So, I guess I am SOL. Has anybody ran into this before?

Thanks

Tim

Find another U-Haul dealer.

Tim,

Last time I had mine weighed it was 7400 lbs. That included about 800 lbs of fuel in an aux tank but well over 4600 lbs net. Show them GMs specs for your truck (you can tow over 12000 lbs) or for $5 you can get your truck weighed and run the slip by the Uhaul joint, or as bullseye says, find a smarter Uhaul dealer.

Wonder what they would say about some people grossing over 25,000 . Ditto what Bullseye said . Find another dealer .

Well Tim,

last time we needed a thing like that we were in NC & the Ryder agent told us that the only way to rent their trailers was to rent the truck to go with it!
The lawyers will not quit until they bring everything that moves to a dead stop.
Play their silly game & tell them you changed your mind & going to haul the beetle instead!

Thnx, Gben tongue.gif
