Torque Convertor going, Should I grenade tranny?

Yup my TC is making some nice sounds above 40 mph if I romp on the go pedal hard and then let off I get a horrendous sound from my TC(the same sound you get when doing smoke shows) So I got 2,000 miles left of warranty....How, and should I just grenade the whole tranny, or should I just try and get the TC replaced. I dont have the cash right now for a stage III kit, And I have been looking for a core so when I do have the cash I can get it done with out losing my truck. Basically should I blow her up, or keep the tranny and just get TC replaced, And secondly whats the best way to just totally destroy the tranny? Need help fast 2,000 miles go quick. Bill

No it won't do it. The tranny will automatically kick into neutral. It very tough to kill an Allison.

While snowplowing if I shifted to fast to reverse while still going forward it would kick to neutral. The gear you are going to (i.e. "R")will flash on the gear select indicator. You will be forced to go to another gear and try reverse again.

borrow a quad comp box or a tst comp......one member that I know of has the tranny killer juice :D dave On second thought it might not be the tc, turbo bark can result from similar situations........impellor spins fast one direction to make boost and when you let off back pressure causes it to reverse and make a grunting noise(bark) Is your waste gate blocked or stock? after reading your sig thats the turbo making that noise. Un block the waste gate and try it

SDaver, I will try, but Im pretty sure its the torque convertor. It only happens when the TC is locked, so above 40 mph only. I dunno. Just been contemplating getting rid of the truck all together, And Im thinking 6 speed now. If I can get the tranny replaced under warranty Ill keep this truck forever, But just was'nt planning on something like this happening so soon. I also think its complete total BS that An Ally tranny in a medium duty truck is warrantied for like 3 year 100,000 miles(I actually think its 200,000) yet ours only get the 36,000 mile treatment.
My tranny is shifting absolutely perfect if not better than ever so maybe the backspin of the turbo is causing it, but it sounds kinda heavy for a sound coming from the turbo.

I need a Core for cheap lol, And I know who to get it from....PS you MOFO's I miss one stag now Im obligated. Im going to miss Box seats @Yankee statdium...supposedly catered, beer, etc......But Screw the 50 bucks for tixs, sounds to good to be true. Bill
