differential fluid change

I have never changed the differential fluid in a
vehicle and was wondering how difficult it is to do. Also, what type oil are you using for refill for the front and rear?

Grape juice at the dealer per quart = 28 bucks, 22 under company name. :eek: That's really high priced stuff.

Mobil 1 at the local store is about 8 dollars per quart. 75-140...I think?

The rear has two bolts and is very simple. The top one is for filling and the bottom for draining. You will need 4 quarts of fluid to replennish the rear chunck. Droping the spare tire will make it a little more easy.

I believe the manual only calls for 75w-140 for towing and severe use, and 75w-90 is the mainstay. Use a socket extension to remove the plug. I don't recall what size, 1/2 inch I think. Without dropping the spare tire it is difficult to empty the entire contents of the bottles. I squeezed in the majority of the fluid of each bottle, and then combined the remainder of each into one bottle to finish. It's an easy job and should be no problem. --Nick tongue.gif

So it takes exactly 4 quarts. So put 4 quarts in and call it good. Also the 75-140 mobile 1 synthetic is ok for the G-80 locker.
