I went to a friends boat repair shop and learned that he had a new Chevy Duramax. His truck came stock from the dealer with firestone 265 tires. The 03's must have gotten a computer upgrade because my 02 drove like a dog with 265's.GM told my dealer not to even look for power or cruise control issues unless the truck had 245 tires. Has anyone elses truck come with bigger tires? Maybe the dealer slapped them on there just to make the truck look better.

Look at the door jamb! Thats the tire size the truck came from the factory with. If there are any
GM Factory guys monitoring this forum, can you tell what we owners want?????? Our trucks look like Dodges with the 245's.Fill the wheel well please! tongue.gif

I couldn't get the 245's off mine fast enough. In fact I drove it off the lot and straight over to the michelin dealer and put on my 265's!

Those were installed after it left the factory, there isnt a 2500hd out there that comes with anything other the 245's. Ponch, mine never left the dealer parking lot. I signed on the truck and raised it up and put on 285's! GM has NO provisions to put on 265's or other on the truck, there is no programming to correct for tire size on the whole truck, you can adjust for abs but your askin for trouble when your vss and abs are talking at different speeds.... Predator or Hypertech is only thing I know of to safely correct tire size.

The Firestone 265 is the model number, not the size.
If you actually read the sidewall they are 245/75/16.
Mine came from the factory with the same size and I thought wow, now I do not have to buy new tires, wrong, I have a set of Bridgestone Dueller Revo 265/75/16 on order.

I want to echo Mustfish. My truck also ran poorly with 265's. For as little circumference difference as there is between 245's and 265's you wouldn't think the truck would care but I ran two sets of 265's down to the belts and I could immediately tell the difference when changing between the two sizes. The acceleration just wasn't the same with the 265's. I hate to imagine what it would be like with an even larger tire size. Jeff

I guess it has something to do with the individual truck. I have 285's on, and my truck only lost a little off the line oomph (and it doesn't kick out of OD as quickly on the freeway). But those are minor tradeoffs given how much better the truck looks now.

my truck is in the shop and the service manager told me to next time take off my k-n and put back on the stock tires cause gm told them to void warranty on trucks with any mods .i told them bite me fix and if i broke it i will pay for it and if the truck just messed up its up to them to fix...i have bought many trucks from this dealer and this is the first time add ons have been a problem.just a note he was not as worried about the propane ,felt many wouldnt know what it was as he was over the airbox first then tires second...jess
