My lift pump only gets power during cranking. When the engine is running the pump has no power.
I tried a different relay but it did the same thing. If I can't solve the problem (eg. computer glitch) would it be safe to run 12volts directly to the pump including an in line fuse and a switch in the cab?

Do a search on OPS (oil pressure sender). That's the sensor that sends oil pressure readings to your dash gauge. It has an additional circuit which powers the lift pump relay. My 92 cut out even though the gauge still showed pressure. The OPS is at the back of the engine on the driver's side & takes a special socket ($5 at autozone), but it's a $17 part and an easy replacement. Also check the pump relay & fuse on the passenger firewall under the plastic cover...
