View Full Version : How good was your "DEAL"??

I just purchased my truck a week ago, I feel like I got a decent deal, but was curious how everyone else was treated.

I had a couple of dealers who wouldn't come off of sticker too much saying that anything with the Duramax is bringing a premium all over the country.

I am not asking you to divulge hard numbers. I would like to know what kind of percentage you got off of sticker.

Take your bottom line purchase price, (what you actually paid after rebates, sales tax, paperwork fees, etc.) and divide by the sticker price.

My deal works out to about 12% off of sticker.

How did you do??

I got mine for 1 % over invoice. I got the $2002 rebate on top of that.

I got around 10% but, the dealer gave me more for my trade than I could sell it for and the sales tax savings alone was around $1100 and there were no rebates when I got my truck.

I also got my truck, no empty promises of allocations that the dealer does not have and trucks at incredible discounts that don't pan out and leave the customer mad. You have to remember that the dealership has to make money in order to be there in the future. I know that there is always some room to work but what ifyou had to bergain for everyday purchases. Imagine bargaining with the foreigner who pumps your fuel and trying to get a better deal at Burger King. You think the lines at lunch time are long now.

So if you have a truck on order that is a really good deal ( too good to be true) remember they have your deposit and you are the the one waiting, it just might be too good to be true.

Just my thoughts,

John

'02 2500 HD CC SLT DMax/Alison LOADED w/every option available - MSRP = $45k +/-

I paid just about 12% off MSRP. I had to order the truck and with dealer allocations and the diesel build limit, it was questionable to me which dealers would actually be able to deliver in a resonable (4 months) period of time. I got it 2.5 months.

On a 1-10 of dealers, this dealer was a 12. All the way through the deal, the dealer/sales manager were superb.

I read a lot about long orders and waiting on delivery. I guess I got lucky. I found the truck I was looking for on GM Buypower and it was at a dealer about 20 miles away from me. I walked in to test drive it on a Tuesday, it was still in the wrapper with 2 miles on it. I made the deal on Wednesday, and picked it up on Thursday.

So far so good. About to hit the 1000 mile mark.

Thanks to all for sharing.

I found 2 3500 D-max's at 2 different dealers within 10 miles of each other. They both said they would beat each others best deal. After 4 hours of going back and forth, I ended up with a loaded 3500 LT Duramax/Allison leather int. w/heated seats, back country nurf bars, bug shield, diamond plated mud flaps. This was a good example of a dealer trying to shoot for the moon, but more willing to move a truck. Maybe he was having trouble moving the big green D-Max.

I traded my LT 2001 Z71 extended cab LB pickup with 34,000 miles (I had bought it new on the road for $29,600.

The Final deal was as shown:

Trade-in $23,500 for Z71
Factory invoice for truck (verified)
less $2002 rebate
add-ons by dealer accessories were priced at $2,111 (what a joke) I made them remove the drop in bed liner, ended up about $600.00 for the add-ons total. taxes, licenses included.
On the road I gave them a check for $20,000.00 and I took her home. The truck's INFLATED sticker price was $46,869.00. I am glad I wasn't in a hurry, they could have gouged me big time.

With the GMO program 22% for an ordered truck. Ordered on 18 Jan and picked up on 4 April. Seems about average for ordering a truck. Received $2002 + $500 cash back. Didn't pay any doc fees or other adds by the dealer. Dealer mark-up is usually about 1500 over MSRP here. Bottom line: As long as you feel good about it, you got a good deal. Everyone has a smile on their face when they drive their truck. smile.gif

My truck isn't a diesel. I got it for $200 under invoice but they did charge the advertising fee and a $99 paperwork fee.. I think that anyone the gets a truck for less than $500 over is doing well. Even $1000 over is not bad on a hard to find truck.

Got the same deal as MaxNouT. I didn't find out until after I had the order in that the company I work for get the GM Supplier discount. Got the form and gave it to the dealer. The 2 dealer options I had put on (Lo-Jack and running boards) I got at dealer cost. I took the $ 2002 rebate and the extra $500 kicker they gave to GMS buyers.

I did pretty good, $49.00 over invoice -$1,000 dollars on GM credit card points. The sticker was $39,700 at 49 over invoice was $34,700 -$1,000 GM credit card points = final price of $33,700 This was in August of 2000 when you could not find or order them any where. It took four months to deliver and I got it right before Christmes 2000. Loving every minute, by far the best truck I have ever owned. Ande Chevrolet, Lawrenceburg Indiana.

Hey everyone,

This is my first post! Just bought my truck on Saturday. Got it for 13% under sticker, which is $847 under invoice. It's the only 6 speed I could find in the state, so I'm pretty excited!

Can't wait to get this thing broken in and start towing!

Man,

It almost hurts to put this in writing in front of me where my eyes have to see it...

Dealer sticker---$45,000
I Paid-----------$42,500
0% interest------$0
Interest saved---$9,670 (7%@6years)
So, I basically paid .9% under sticker...they wouldn't deal AT ALL.

Obviously it was the 0% interest that saved me the dough and not the *^&%$#$%$ dealer.

traded '96 2500 D/C Xcab 4X4 for $24,000 diff.,

I ordered my '02 GMC 2500HD SLT 4x4 D/A (everything but roof mounted marker lights and the snow plow prep package) on Oct. 26. Truck finally arrived the last week of February, so I was able to take advantage of the $2002 rebate.
Price before tax, title, and license ended up being 14% off MSRP of $42,240. (Of course, that Washington State sales tax will kill ya!). I purchased the truck using my Costco membership car buying service.

I notice not too many people are posting that they payed MSRP or close to it. I got mine 10% off MSRP, 2.9% financing, and a good deal on my trade.

Bottom line, I went to the dealer, found my truck, drove it home. That alone was worth a mint considering the wait some people had for their ordered rigs!

I got a 4wd SLE reg cab with everything except roof marker lamps. smile.gif

Why no leather in reg cabs though???

We all love our trucks. What we paid is in the past, or at least within the next 5 years :D

Happy driving,

TY

since i bought my truck in dec these trucks have gotten a lot cheaper down here in texas. ck my post in allocations and you'll see that the in stock trucks are advertised under invoice almost every sunday. i bought my cc 4x4 sb for 500 over invoice back when they were a little harder to get. i got 1k rebate and 0% for 3 years so i feel pretty lucky and i got a copy of the invoice so i could check their math. and i bought from stock, no waiting. then there was the little problem with my 99 ps f**d that nobody wanted to trade for. it was a 6 speed ext cab 4x4 with 45k miles and they wanted to give 66% of kelly trade in. about that time my neibor decided he wanted to buy a truck so we did an in and out at the dealership , i got what i wanted for my trade, and i saved sales tax on the trade amount of 20k. my neibor was happy to boot! am i happy, yes!!

I was also a GM Supplier Discounted Buyer. This is what I paid:

The MSRP was $42,879.00
Dealer invoice $38,221.00

My cost(GMS+4%) $37,668.00 then subtract $3002.00 off in rebates ( $2002.00 overdrive rebate/ $1000.00 gas tank voucher)

Final cost $34,666.00 + TAX!

I also traded a 1997 2500Xcab 4x4 SB-GMC SLE w/ 70K on it. I could only squeeze $13,000.00 for it. It did need tires, brakes, and a grill. OH WELL!!! That also saved me another $780.00 at 6% CT sales tax!!
