Just got back from installing my new down pipe and removing that little kitty cat  a little farther back. Engine runs smoother, a little faster and louder. Now for the bad part. As soon as it started up I had a code '62'. Oil temp indication, and something to do with the cruse control. Never had that before, and the check engine light will not go out. No wires appear to be damaged where I was working. Also removed power from the ECM to remove codes, with no luck. And last but not least, when ever the throttle is pressed to accelerate it smokes a good bit. It smoked under a trailer load, but rarely around town. Any ideas??????

Ok so maybe I should read the DP list of codes, not my Chiltons. Here is code 62 from the 94-96 list. DTC 62 - Turbo Boost Sensor Circuit Low. Ok now that that is squared away, anybody have a fix??

The boost sensor is the black box on top of the intake manifold. It sounds like it is unplugged or has a broken wire.

Check for a vacuum leak. Did you disturb any wires, or vacuum hoses while trying to get that clamp on the turbo and downpipe?

I was pretty careful when installing the 'fitted' down pipe. I guess custom fit means that you have to caress the pipe to make it fit. But I took the inner fenderwell out to make life easier, and to see what the heck was going on. I'll check for vac leaks and broken wires today. I hope it is something easy........

I got the pipe from Diesel Depot. Deacent piece, except that there needs to be a dent for the frame. Otherwise it will rattle and vibrate. Easy install, nothing a little banging and welding couldnt fix.

there is also a rinky dink ground strap between the sheetmetal, head and frame just about where the downpipe gets tight, maybe it got distrurbed ? hopefully something just got bumped..good luck ;)

Can't remeber the exact sequence, but to clear codes my book had something about "with jumper in, ignition on, step on the throutle all the way and press the brake 3 times."

Should be in the book somewhere around the codes.

Looked the ole girl real good and found a couple of things. the little black box almost dead center of the intake does something about controling boost. Amazing what happens when it gets plugged in! :D Only thing, it looks like it haden't been plugged in for a while. But it works with no 'check engine' light. Also the Vac pup is sucking between 22 & 23". Is that about right?? Thanks for the help guys!!
