speedo acts up

My speedo acts up on my 03 gmc when I am driving for more than 15 min. It will start to read a lower speed, and the further you drive the worst it gets. It got so bad that it was reading 0 and I was going about 60. But when you shut it off and restart it, it's fine. Any one have a clue?

Go for a ride with a Tech II scan tool to evaluate the speedo. If the scan tool indicates the correct speed, but the speedo doesn't, check related electrical connections on the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). If no help, you may need a new IPC. It's covered for 3/36.

Thanks, The odometer still reads right so i think the speedo is junk or maybe a wire or something. I sure wish this would have happend before I went over 36,000 miles.

if your in good w/ your dealer they CAN goodwill it to i belive 6yr/60k or 5yr/50k.
