I flushed my brake system yesterday using a vacuum brake bleeder system. I replaced the fluid using Valvoline SynPower synthetic formula - which claims to meet/exceed DOT3 and DOT4 specs and they claim compatibility with all conventional brake fluids.

My 3500 D/A was delivered near the end of 06/2001 and has about 8K miles. I just finished installing a clutch in another car and had all the tools out since I had to service the hydraulic clutch on that car. Figured, what the heck - I'll do the truck's brakes....

There was a significant improvement in the way the 3500 brakes perform - improved pedal feel and response. I was impressed at the difference. I've always been pleased with the brakes on the 3500, so this was a pleasant surprise to see improvement that I did not expect - and for less than 20 minutes of time and a quart of brake fluid...

I remember hoot voicing steering and brake issues recently, and servicing the brake system may be the fix for those with similar concerns.

BTW, the old brake fluid did not look too discolored...

Your mileage may vary :D
