Side mirror signal lights

My '02 D/A was heated, power mirrors. I see the newer trucks have the LED signals in their mirrors. Anyone tried to retro-fit the newer glass onto the older mirrors? I know you can buy kits to do this but they sure don't come cheap. Wondering what's involved in wiring these up?
