Gonna replace stock tires this fall-(The Goodyears).Bene reading the treads & see the Michelin tires seems to be the favored one.The guestion I got is will the LT265/75R16 E load Range fit my 3500 Duelly? Will they rub together when installed or is there clearence between the two of them.Im asking about empty as well as loaded for clearence. The stock tires only have about a inch between them.I am not going to modify anything concerning the rims.going to leave it stock. Can these Michelins replace the stock tires without any modification? Any Imfo would be a big help. Thanks Guys.Hammer smile.gif smile.gif

hammer,

I'd say they would "RUB" like a big dog .......Specially if you used stock 6.5 rim ...... I'm running 235/85's and they are mighty tight ....... See PICS ...... Ultra Wheels, Spacers folder....... I don't care for the spacers look, all though perhaps with a wider tire ????? But your getting to the point off them hanging out past fenders....... I haven't proceeded with my looking for longer studs, as summers here and I'm not swinging wrenches, but enjoying the weather on my free time...... Perhaps this fall ...... Spacers less then 2" require altering stock studs ...... Not for me ....... Do a search me,Indingo Dually, and KEV had a post on just this not to long ago ....... I believe the widest you can go safely towing stock configuration is 235/75'S ........ Good luck ..... If you find studs please let me know, as I would love to slide a 3/4 spacer in between, which would give me plenty of space ... IMHO .......

hammer,
265's will not work. Look at Mac's 235's. They are nip an' tuck.

Thanks Guys,I'll go with the 235/75R16 E-Range ratings.I hope Michelins make this size for Ive had Michelins before & got exellent wear & Mileage from them. The Goodyears are just average in my book.Looks like 40,000 is going to be the max on these tires for me.Woulda like to see a little more for wear & tear but you know GM,not gonna happen.Hammer smile.gif smile.gif

hammer,

Since you're getting tires, I'd like to mention that balancing is critical to a good ride. There's a new balancer called Hunter 9700 that is used by Discount Tire (and others, I'm sure.)

It detects the high spots on the rim and tire, shows which way to orient the tire to cancel out the high spots. Then they balance out very nicely, less weight used and VERY smooth ride.

Since we are talking about tires, I am also looking to replace my tires sometime this summer. I now have 70,000 kms on them and they are just about to go. I want to upgrade to 10 ply tires since I will be hauling a large horse trailer starting in august. Is there any difference in size or ride with a 10 ply tire, or are they very similar to the 215 michelins i have now? Thanks.

SoCalDMax,Thanks for the balancing tip,Im in Wisc. here & were Im purchasing the Michelins will be a Farm & Fleet Store & they do have the machine you mentioned because I took my six tires down to them off of my tri-axle trailer & had them balanced this spring & also rotated them on the trailer. The truck tires I rotate every other oil change.Oh,Ya,Wanna thank everybody on the forum for a wonderfull return on questions when we have one. With out this forum most of us wouldnt have the knowledge we have without each other helping out answering questions. One example is the fast Idle Imfo everybody used to set it up on there truck.I myself put it on using the forum & to this day its bene working flawlessly.
