Hey Guys, a friend at the dealship gave me a great idea about the 2003 trucks. I personally like all the changes being made to them except for the nasty, disgusting, dirty avalanche front end they are putting on a HEAVY DUTY pick-up truck. Why???? GM is not the brightest crayon in the box. So I want YOU VOTE. Please don't reply with any comments if you like the 2003 front end, this is only NEGATIVE comments. Simply Vote by simply stating YES at the beginning of your post to object the change. I'm going to give the thread a few weeks to mature then print out the results, take them to my buddy and he is going to mail it directly to GM. I thank this is a great idea, seeing how GM supposedly follows this forum, they're going to get this one even if they don't!

YES.... I think the 03 front end is very ugly. The Avalanch is a unique vehicle and therfore I think it deserves the ugly front end. HEY BOB LUTZ....Quit screwin' with a good thing and leave the Silverado alone.

Personally, I think it is pretty cool that they can come up with an original idea, rather than copy each other like Ford and Dodge. Although the styling is what I would call "shocking" at first glance, trust me that it will grow on you. People are so resistant to any kind of change.

bonehead that designed the Aztek. I don't care if it IS the most versatile vehicle in the world, IT'S STILL UGLY!

YESSSSS!!!! I'm glad I got an '02. We buy big trucks because they look impressive, who wants to be seen in some wimpy-looking car/truck hybrid thing. My '02 will outlast that styling FUBAR!!!! :eek:

YES, the 2003 Chevy's are bad. I don't like the sharp lines in the front with the smooth curves on the back. The GMC's aren't quite as bad.

I'll second that. The new design is one ugly piece of work. If they want to screw designs up please do it on cars, Leave our pickups alone. Hoped to buy a new 2003 Chevy 2500 HD but not sure now. :(

Just when GM was getting it right they have to go and screw it up. And did I mention that the 2003 Chevy is extremely UGLY in the front end department, but it has a great personality! :D

Yes, the Avalanche front end is ... OK...for the Avalanche, and I considered an Avalanche. However, I can't see liking that look on the Silverado or especially the HDs. It puts too plasticy (if a word) a look on it. I heard about that not too long ago and hopped on opportunity to find a 2002 2500HD on the lot. I've actually bought it, but haven't seen it yet. (I'm out of town for another week, it's killing me knowing it's waiting for me in Charlotte, NC). I found a loaded D/A 2500HD LT on the lot, Summit White, MGraphite interior.
I pick it up on my B-Day!! Can't wait.

Oh yes my dear fellow quite unappealing and tends to make me a bit queezy. I'm so glad I got an 01.....EXCEPT FOR THE STUPID SUNVISORS!!!! Make the floors flat! Make the mirrors big enough to be usable! Make the seats recline all the way back! Make the dang lights turn off and on when you want them to! AND DON'T PUT THE AVALANCHE FRONT END ON IT!!!

If the 2003's look like an Avalache then I am very, very glad that I bought my 2002. My wife describes vehicles looks by the term "character" and she rates the Avalanche as ugly. What is GM trying to do make an Edsel look good!
It will be intersting to see if the 2002 sales go higher and the 2003 sales tank because of the stupid move to try and make the truck look "cool". The HD's looked great and had nice clean looking lines. Now they make it look like you are looking at a set of cat eyes!

Yes. I am sorry to say that GM looks like it is adopting the same horrendous Godzilla styling that the Japanese spent two decades trying to get rid of. The Avalanche looks good until you get outside the bed/cabin then it goes to he!!. The most egregious styling defect, to me anyway, is those flat topped wheel openings. The plastic crap on the sides is second. Looks like my wife's old Suzuki Sidekick Sport. Maybe they should make a GMC version, so you can have a normal looking truck.
I can't believe they did all that talking about the latest generation of styling being an evolutionary but conservative upgrade from the pre-99 styling, then they go and do this. I would have been happier of they had copied the freakin' Dodge!!

Ok guys, I'm gonna mail this thread to GM Monday morning. I figured we would have gotten some more votes considering we have 6,000 members. :D I'll leave the thread open over the weekend incase anyone else wants to vote, shes gettin printed Sunday night. Maybe we'll have a word in the trucks we drive and for them not to destroy a good thing by changing the looks to something that ugly.

my 2000 3/4 ton for a 2003 HD but not anymore. I'm keepin the 2000 and just bought a 2002 Dodge, yes that's right. I hate the new style that much.
How do you like that GM, there's 35K you won't be seeing this year.

YES. UGLY. I know most you guys don't care about a woman's opinion. But from my point of view, it is ugly. I liked the old "square" looking fronts of the Chevys. So they changed a little in the past couple of years to make it more aerodynamic (or perhaps to follow in the footsteps of Ford?). But enough is enough. Let a truck look like a truck not some damn alien-looking spaceship.
are we sure that 3/4-1 tons are getting that front end, when i was at the chicago auto show the green truck on display was a 1/2 ton, the guys from gm could or wouldn't say if 3/4-1 tons would get the same, we can allways hope!!!

YUCK I am all set with the flat black plastic look!!!! I for one dont think the 2002 caddy look-a-like is much better looking ,but dont see them selling one with a Dmax 300+hp...just my .02 :eek:
Stupid idea! I'm so thankful I already have a 2001 GMC, where disign was part of the reason I bought the truck in the first place. It's going to have to last me longer than I had thought. Please don't send me back to Ford!!

I think GM is going backwards. The mid 90's was the best looking truck, then they redesigned them to start looking like ford and dodge, ugly. Now they come up with the new design for 2003? What a joke. I sure hope my 94 lasts 40 years.

YES, I wouldn't be caught dead in an Avalanche, the GMC for 2003 looks much better than the Chevy but I think the GMC looks better now already thats why I've got a 2002 GMC.

My opinion; looks like the North end of a South bound horse. Sure glad I got my 2002.
I don't pull the weight a lot, or most of you guys haul on a regular basis so I lot of my buying appeal is appearance. Looks like my last Chevy for awhile. :rolleyes:
I wonder, do you think they made the rear window removable & take out seats so you can have a 12 foot bed. Naw, it would probably be plastic anyway but then a composite material might be stronger than some of the paper thin sheet metal their stamping out these days. :D

The GMC yes,the Chevy no way,the 2002 were a toss up with the GMC winning over because of the much better quality seats.

You know what, you're right & that's why there is chocolate & vanilla not to mention why all guys & girls don't look alike. Man, would that be boring.
Another issue worth mentioning. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words. Not so in a vehichle. It's very difficult to get the full perspective view from a picture, even if all four sides are shown. I think we'll all be able to give a much more honest opinion once the first trucks hit the dealers.
As for me regarding the Avalanche, its not so much the fron end I have a problem with but all the plastic (which looks like plastic) hanging off the sides down to the kick-panels. I know there are those that like them & that's what makes the world go around.

Yes! I'm usually upset when there is a style change since I will have a truck that looks old. In this case, I'm glad I have the "older" version.
