54,000 miles on truck. Couple of shallow stream crossings and very wet logging roads this hunting season.
Last Friday, snow/slush/rain conditions. Shift/Gear indicator on dash loses 'D'. Off and on during the return to trip. I'm guessing the NSBU should be replaced. I still have the OE.
Is 29540479 the current part number? Any thing I need to know/tricks before I replace it? I think I have an old article around here on the install, but not sure. Should I look into the shield that MadMatt mentioned some time ago? I believe the part number is 700028. Any other info or difficulties I may run into?
Thank You.

There was an Excellent Article on this site several years ago, for NSBU Switch replacement, that almost anyone can do themselves, with only a few tools, at:

I believe you need to be a member to view. Not sure if it's still available.

And if you buy your NSB from a Dealer, you might pay as high as $300.00. I bought mine from a local IH truck shop that is also an allison dealer/service center. I think I paid about $48.00 for the part. When you get the new part it should be tan in color. The older ones were black.
