Does anyone know if or heard of cold air coming in from somewhere under the dash on the passenger side floorboard... The wife just noticed it and swears it has not been doing it before... She is very cold natured and i think she would have noticed it sooner if it had been doing it all along... Thanks in advance...

DURA-MAX3,

There is a TSB on this issue - sorry I don't have the number or remember the exact fix. Try searching the 2500HD/3500 HD Trucks & Drivetrain forum - where this topic was transferred.

I found a previous link to the TSB:

http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=004380

PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE COLDER/WARMER THAN DRIVER'S SIDE (REPAIR HVAC CASE TO COWL SEAL) #01-01-37-008

1999-2001 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K PICKUP (SILVERADO, SIERRA) AND UTILITY (SUBURBAN, TAHOE, YUKON, YUKON XL) MODELS

2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE

CAUSE
CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO POOR SEALING OF THE HVAC AIR INLET CASE TO THE FRONT OF DASH OR THE RECIRCULATION MODE DOOR ACTUATOR MAY NOT HOLD THE RECIRCULATION DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING.

CORRECTION
REPLACE THE RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR (IF NECESSARY) AND REPAIR THE HVAC CASE TO COWL SEAL USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE.....

This is taken from an old copy I printed out in 11/2001, so there may be an updated TSB to address newer trucks. Good luck.

I can imagine after the dealer takes the dash apart to fix it your chances of new rattles and squeaks would increase. I just shoved a carwash size sponge up in the void under the dash on the passenger side above the floor light that's up under there. It won't keep the cold air from finding its way in but it will cut down on the draft blowing on the passengers' legs. My girlfriend doesn't complain about having cold legs and feet anymore after my sponge fix.

pull the glove box down and insulate where the cold air is comming from. we have had our truck in a dozen times for this issue and this is what has to be done. we still are not happy with it, the engineers from gm should have to pay for this screw up, instead the customers are. wait for a 0 degree day and get on the expressway and kick it up to 80, you set on the passengers side with your shoes and socks off. you will quickly find where the cold air is coming from. its best to empty the glove box and pull it down, to do this reach to the rear of the glove box and pull in toward the drivers side and it will drop down. will road test the next one first before buying. dave p

Duramax3:

I think there's more problems with this out there than GM knows about. I had an '02 which had the same exact problem. Luckily, I traded it in. Good luck on your fix, I like the posted idea with the sponge, I can't stand leaving my trucks at dealerships, the tech's never really care about your vehicle, try and fix it yourself. I just never had time to attempt. Good Luck
