Tonight I got my 285x75x15's (Interco TrXuS E Rated, 10-ply) on Weld Outback 16x18 rims installed. Ended up chopping airdam and putting 3 turns on the torsion bars. front is just a hair lower than rear.

i noticed that i had to put up to 150 grams of lead in 1 spot on a couple of my tires. this seems a bit excessive. what do you guys think? also i presume i've worked myself into an alignment need?

Also I tried unsuccessfully to install the factory wheel caps on the Weld wheels. Does anyone besides Weld make caps that will fit?

Note to self: Do not install stick on led inside of rim, as Brake caliper takes it right off!

Interco tires are notorious for taking a lot of weight to balance.

Ndamico,

How about some pictures of the new tires. I'm planning on a set of the Trxus in 255/85 soon. I've also got a white CC swb 4X4. I'd like to see what to expect. I know you just got them, but how is the ride and road noise so far?

150 grams on each tire!? I hope you mean 15 grams not 150. Sounds very excessive to me. Who balanced your tires?

How noisy are they on the road?

Whaenever big lugs are used on big tires, a lot of weight can become necessary.

Well i dropped my baby at the alignment shop today. I'll take some pictures this evening when i pick her up. I think the tires/wheels look great! they are a little lounder, but nothing like my 35" BFG M/T's on my old K1500! i put 3 turns on the passenger torsion bar and ended up with 4.5 on the driver side. the driver's side rubs on the front fenderwell when turning right and just a hair on the back when turning left. the right side doesn't rub at all.

I took her to the best front end shop in town and asked them to re-balance the tires, check the level, and align it. i might cut the fender well a bit in the front on the driver's side if need be... is there another reason (besides being unlevel) that the driver's side would rub and the passenger side wouldn't? and yes, my tires are the same size! :D :D :D

getupingo- i balanced the tires at my buddy's porsche/BMW shop. one came out good, one fair, and the other two were about 150 grams. i think the shop i took it to today has a better balancing machine so maybe they'll have better results..

ndamico,

Glad to hear you really like your new tires, I'd love to see pics of them when you get to it.

If the alignment shop has problems getting them balanced out, try this website for locations that use the Hunter GSP9700 system.

I just had my Dunlops recently checked, and they discovered 3 tires were so far out of round, the machine recommended replacement. Generally, the tires get rotated on the rim to cancel high/low spots and the assembly uses a lot less weight, not to mention riding smoother.

I had the same problem with rubbing on the driver's fender liner. It's a different shape with less room that the passenger side. I used a heat gun to reshape mine. Just turn the tire to a point where it is closest to the offending plastic, shove a 2x4 in there to provide some clearance + spring back, and heat with the gun. Be careful not to get too hot and melt it.

This took care of mine. I'm running 285/75R16 ATs with no suspension changes at all. Just bolted the tires on and reshaped the liner...

If you have any more trouble try Discount Tire, they should have a hunter balancer.

Oh, guess I should add, even though obvious, let it cool before removing the 2x4...
