Borrowed from a handbook I have here for GM Turbo Hydro transmissions-

"The ideal operating temperature for ATF is in the 175-225 degree range." " A commonly used statistic is that every 20 degree rise in fluid temperature from ideal reduces fluid and transmission life by half. When ATF reaches about 250 degrees, varnish begins to form- the additives are cooked out of the fluid. As temperatures increase to about 275 degrees, polyacrylate seals (found on the pressure plates in each clutch) begin to harden and lose their elasticity, resulting in leaks- both external and internal."

These temperatures are for standard dino-based ATF. Synthetic ATF should be more stable at higher temperatures.

Thanks SoMnDmax , sounds like the 210 number is in the safe zone for the tranny fluid plus 15 degrees. So like GM told me , only over 210 then be concerned .. ;)
