I guess we all know that a 4wd launch especially with the hot juice and some added boost is the preferred way to hit the green but, I don't like the idea of turning the extra hardware for the full run.

Given the 4wd on the trucks is shift on the fly, what happens or could happen if the little grey button is pushed back to 2wd with full power and the Hot, once you shift into say 3rd?

Will the front disengage without problems or could we see parts showing up in the rear view?  Maybe it wouldn't disengage at all under load. Don't know, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks,

Billy

I have never had my truck disengage while under load at any speed. I always have to let off for a second and it will pop out. I can feel my front axle pulling even though I pushed the 2wd button....under power.

You shouldn't see parts in the rear view.

After I launch I push the 2wd button right before it shifts to 2nd and my rpms drop. It feels like it disengages when it is defueling, all I know is that by the time I get to the end of the track I am in 2wd and my time will be quicker than a 4wd run. Hope this helps there are others with more experience on this board.

Mine stayed in 4wd for the entire 1/4 mile run. I only shifted it into 2wd once during five runs. I ran 2wd on one run and once it got going (sat and smoked tires for 1 sec.) it was a little faster.

Thanks guys,

Think I'll try it in 5wd. Yeah right!

Main thing is, just don't want to tear anything up goin from 4 - 2wd.
