Just a simple question - Is there any particular product you all are using to get road gunk - tar/gum off painted surfaces. Just dont want to mess up the paint on the new 2003. Thanks!

WD-40 works great on any type of gummy residue. WD-40 is actually a great solvent and a lousy lubricant, contrary to what some people think. I used it on a padlock once (outdoors) and it attracted moisture, the lock rusted only where the WD-40 had been sprayed.

This is going to sound crazy, but it works. Skin so soft from Avon. I got tar on the truck and watched my father-in-law pull some out of his truck, dab it on with his finger and rub the tar a little. It disolved and wiped off. I have also used Goo Gone, but the Skin so soft works better.

WD-40 is "Water Displacement formula 40". You aren't kidding about it being a poor lubricant unless you only want it around a little while.

I used a product called Desolv It from Wally world. It's similar to the Goo Gone. Used it this past weekend for some road tar that's been on the truck for a while. Since I had added water to the bottle to dilute it, a had to wait a minute or two for it to soften up the tar, but after that, a paper towel and all was well. A Second application to get the left over spots and it was done.

Mayonaise is simply whipped oil. Should work fine.

I also heard Go-Jo waterless hand cleaner works real well.

PS: Do not use Miracle Whip. It will remove paint. ;)
