I'm looking at a used (15,000) 2002 dmax ls. It is a canadian truck. They are asking 37,000 which is to much. Thinking of offering 31000. Need opinions and things to look at on truck. Has had dealership detail so it looks good. Any comments????

If it was a Canadian truck, has the odometer been converted to US readings? If it was converted, how do you know how many miles are really on the truck? That has been the biggest warning about buying Canadian vehicles.

Hogbody, that sounds to steep to me.

I bought my 2001 3 months ago for 29900.00

It had 12000 miles on it and was a canadian lease

return or so I was told.

Check your hour meter to verify mileage(average speed shouldn't be to low)and low ball them on the price.

The dealer I bought mine at had the truck for 3.5

months and was asking 33,900.00 then dumped it to 29,900.00 and thats when I jumped on it.

Good luck with your purchase! Blake

I agree with the others; that's too much $$ for that truck.

Thanks for the advice....I slept on it last night and have decided to continue to save my pennies for a new one maybe at the end of the model year or next year. I'll skip on this one.

The thing that upsets me about GM is there current offerings of seat packages. My wife has a bad back and needs a power adjustable seat but now the only way you can get it is with a LT and full leather buckets...........oh well.

This info is what makes this board great.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone. (Be SAFE)

Kurt,

I was looking at a white cc short box. This was at Brads.

Talked to momma this am and I think I'm going to wait and save pennies for a new one. Little worried about a one year old truck with 15,000 and the Canadian thing.

Brads is a very reputable dealer however. Know the owner personally and have bought the last two rigs there. They have always treated me right so I could probably get a good deal.

This is a decision you will have to make on your own. I bought my truck a week ago with 41,000 miles on it for 26,500. I'm not real worried about the mileage. I have a cousin with an '01 like mine with 75,000 towing miles on it and hasn't had a day's trouble.

Larry,

This was at Brad's also, good people, as far as car salesmen are concerned, ha ha. Mine is an '02 with 12,700 miles. Not too worried about the miles, $4,000 less than new. By the time I add a canopy, Torque Lift hitch, camper tie-downs and spray in bed liner I am still less than new price.
Ran the VIN for service work done, none came up. Good or bad??? We'll see.... After talking with a few mechanic friends about the Canadian "thing", I was not too concerned. At least this truck hasn't gone through a Canadian winter. I was ready to buy new, but the extra $$ would make me wait another year and the old 6.5 TD struggles with 16k GCVW up Hwy 58.
Good luck again and take care.

2002 D/A 4x4 3500 CC LB LT with all the toys and 15500 km on it. Dealer would take around 35000.00 US funds. He also has a 2002 D/A 2500 Ex Cab LB LT with all the toys and 50000 KM on it for about 3000.00 less. I personally know the 3500 as it was my old truck and it is perfect. The other I know also and it is about a 9 out of 10. Also know this dealer is really wanting to deal. smile.gif

I've decided to wait until I can get a new one. Friend of mine bought his new 2500 DA LT EC LB by today.....whew! It is nice....I like the bells and whistles too.

I'll be getting a CC SB LT DA late winter or early spring.

Thanks for all the advice.

Larry,

Good for you!!!! I just had to have a newer truck, a guy thing I think?? We just bought a new sled this year, so the brand new truck was not an option, sacrifices, sacrifices smile.gif .
Is your friends a pewter one, saw one from Brads at Les' Canopies yesterday? Still have to get used to the front end, not ugly, just different.
Take care, spring is just around the corner!!!

Kurt, His is a pewter extended cab. Don't think he was going to get a canopy as he pulls a fifth wheel. He had a dodge tc and he says that there is no comparison with the chev. He even sold his Buick as the truck is so comfortable he can't justify having a car any more.

Have fun....Be safe......

Have a great holiday. Larry
