OK...With about 12000 miles on my truck, I'm ready to change the rear diff lube and the front too. Can anyone tell me how much new Mobil 1 I will need to do both?

How many of you have used the Mobil 1 Gear Oil?

I'm also going to switch to the Delvac 1 too, any comments?

When I can the spin on filter on the trans, how much new fluid should I add...And as anyone used the Mobil 1 Dextron III ATF fluid?

I want to do all of this in the next week or so.

Everyone have a Great Thanksgiving! :D

Mobile or Amsoil is a good choice for all your lube's. The rear will take 4qt and the front about 2qt. When chnging the spin on I think you will loose about 8oz or so, I am sure someone here can tell you for sure.

We carry the spin on for the Allison as well as fuel filters.

Good Luck

I changed my alii spin on filter and lost about 12oz of fluid.

Can someone summarize the bolt location for the front differential and confirm the specs and volume of lube for it. I plan on changing my T-case this weekend and might as well do the front differential.

Right now I am planning: (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Transfer case: drain plug on bottom (?size), fill plug 3/4 way up backside (?size) Use <3quarts of Mobil 1 Synth ATF

Front Differential: Fill Plug? Drain Plug? Use <3 quarts of Mobil 1 Synth 75W-90 Gear Lube?

Remove the skid plate (4- 15mm bolts I think), there are two plugs, one on the bottom facing d.s. front tire and one 3" or so above it to refill. The drain plug does have a magnet on it.

"The drain plug does have a magnet on it."\\

IIRC...BOTH my drain and fill plugs had magnets on the ends

Holy cow, Mic, you've got *two drain plugs*! That's a big problem! You'd better get to the Stealer first thing on Friday morning and plunk down $35 for a fill plug! ;) Actually, I think you'll be okay as long as you take the *BOTTOM* drain plug out first, otherwise your diff lube will pour *UP* out of the upper drain plug and get all over your serpentine belt and alternator! :D

"There's on in every bunch" Around here there's over a thousand in this bunch. :D

Off hand I don't remember if both had magnets or not.

Front Differential: Fill Plug? Drain Plug? Use <3 quarts of Mobil 1 Synth 75W-90 Gear Lube?====[CHANGE TO 2 1/16 qt]

So...you put 2 quarts in the transfer case and 2 1/16 in the front diff???

The rear diff takes 4 quarts? Right?

Thanks.
