While coming to a stop sign the other day, my truck acted like the brakes locked up for a second and it made a grinding or ratcheting like noise. The truck was unloaded, and I was doing less than 5 mph and I didn't have a lot of pressure on the brake pedal.
I'm curious if this sounds like a anti-lock brake problem, or could the noise be coming from the Allison tranny?
I have heard the brakes make a similar noise, under a panic stop situation (lucky deer), but this new noise seemed a little louder and more intense.
Just wanted to know if anyone else had had the same noises. I live about 2 hours from my dealer, so I'm trying to decide if I need to visit him.
