About to Buy a DMax

Hi Folks, I'm about to buy my 1st diesel truck. Hoping some of you will educate me. It's a 04 Chevy 2500HD 4WD Ext cab SB, with 8400 miles, asking price is $35k. Looks like a good deal to me, but was wondering if there is any problem areas I need to check for.

Last June I bought a 2004 K3500 LT Dually with 16 miles for $37K. And it's a LLY--that's one thing you need to check for sure.

An LLY is a Duramax that went into production around January 1, 2004. It meets more stringent emissions, but most importantly has a higher output than the previous engine. Look for the LLY code on the label in the glovebox. I think there is a way to decode the VIN as well. With incentives and discounts, I think you should be able to buy that truck brand new for around $35k. Good luck, and keep reading; there's lots to learn!
