Correctrack 2". They are bullet proof and are machined out of steel, not aluminum.

Sorry, I guess I didn't answer your question. No, we didn't change the studs at all. We have put lots of towing and miles with our 11 1/2 ft, 4000 lb. camper pulling our flatbed trailer with our 3700lb race rig and the wheels, spacers and tires and everything is fine.

turbo,
I went with the correctrack 1 3/4" spacers. But wish I had gone with the 2". I had to grind a 1/8" off my studs :(
Are you hauling fairly heavy loads? 'cause if not, you don't need the spacers.

Here is 235's with 2" spacers ....

Way to much space for me ....I assure that is more space then a 48 foot spread axle 48K gw steel or aluminum trailer has in between their meats,Or a semi twin screw tractor for that matter with a total 80k Gvw .... Pursue longer studs and perhaps a 3/4 spacer ...

ksss,
Did you need longer studs or anything additional?
Where did you get them? What's the most total weight you have hauled?

The Correctrack spacers came with longer studs. The 2" spacer had enough thickness to accept the stock studs in their countersink hole without grinding. Because I am running 285's, which are pretty fat compared to the 235's, I needed the 2" spacers. With my heavy camper loaded the tires balloon out and would have rubbed had we not gone with the spacers we did. I asked for the 1 3/4" spacers when I ordered mine but was told by Correctrack that they no longer make the 1 3/4" ones. Depending on which brand tire you go with, the tires will balloon differently because of the sidewall stiffness...That is why an "E" rated tire is better for those of us who carry heavy loads. Here is Correctrack's address: http://www.correctrack.com/

Dawg, how wide are those Hot Shots you're runnin'? They are supposed to be 7.5"+ with those 285's, right (at least according to the Cooper website)?

I thought the Hot Shots only came in 6.5" or something like that?

c5dura,
They are 6.5. We mounted several different tires on these wheels with and without the spacers before going with what we have. We did all the pre fit exercise with our heavy camper on to make sure it really was ok. The tires fit fine, they are just pulled in 1/2" per side which I am assured by the Big "O" expert that is not a problem. They look good (One of these days I'll get some pictures when I find the time  ).

Cool. I see BFG 285-75/16 ATs in my future, mounted on stock rims w/ 2" spacers as my current set of BFG 235-85/16 ATs are going quick, not to mention that my current tires touch with 4000+ lbs over the rear axles unless I pump them up to a solid 80#s.

Something to keep in mind is the load rating. Even though the Coopers are "D" rated they can carry over 3300 pounds each, if I remember right. That is right in there with a lot of other "E" rated tires. The Coopers have a stiff sidewall which help keep them from ballooning like some others. One of the reasons I went with Cooper is because the BFG A/T's were lousy in mud and snow, they pack almost instantly and don't clean out with tire spin. Also, even though tire manufacturers will have the same size stated, there is a world of difference in the actual tire carcass...That is some tires are fatter than others even though their designation says the same thing. The BFG's might be fatter than the Coopers and may not fit on the Alcoa's or stock rims!!!

I agree that the BFG ATs suck in the snow, but I've been pretty happy with their mud performance, but then again I haven't really gone boggin' in my 3500 and have the Warn to pull me out if need be. How noisy are the Coopers on the highway and how does the price compare to the BFGs?

You have the Discoverer S/T right? According to their web site they are rated at 3305# which is the same as the BFG of the same size. My current E rated 235s are only rated at 3042#.

Being a D rated tire, what is the max pressure? 80# still?

Noise isn't too bad. Folks will hear you coming but not so loud that you have to turn the stereo on. ;) I don't remember the cost other than the dealer I got them from came close to mail order prices for similar tires. I remember that part because I was giving him mail order prices as a comparison.

You are testing my memory here. I will have to go back over to the web site or look at my tires and double check the max air. I have bought a lot of tires lately and I can't separate the specs in my mind (Besides the 7 on the dually we replaced the BFG A/T's with 5 Goodyear 37x12.50/17 on our H2 and two new paddle tires for the race rig. I'm starting to feel like a tire store smile.gif ) .

Thanks guys. I'll definitely be sure to look at the Coopers when I go shopping for my next set.

One last question, will a 285 75/16 fit in the stock spare tire location? If so, what about if you have a 4" exhaust?

Bad Dawg

Mine fit up under there, but I haven't done any exhaust yet.
