Can you program the Allison to have more the 5 gears? I was reading a post a long time ago and someone said that you could program the Allison to have more then 5 gears. Is this correct? It would be nice at highway speeds w/o a trailer.

We beat this one to death over a year ago, jfile. The Allison 1000 definitely has 6 speed "capability" but NOT through programming alone. It would require additional hardware (relays and valves)in the tranny AND a fully reprogrammed TCM not to mention the interface to the PCM/ECM, etc. Short answer - no.
